currently coveting: sheer/asymmetrical/slouchy blouses

I've been into button down shirts for awhile now- I love mixing menswear pieces into your wardrobe and making them feminine; but this new sheer blouse / asymmetrical blouse / slouchy blouse (or all 3 at once) trend is totally making my jaw drop. I love this look so much, I feel like these blouses are such great pieces to dress up any outfit yet keep it sexy and down to earth. And did I mention sexy?

schooooool's out for summah

it's inevitable, whenever the august 'back to school' issues of magazines come out, i start to plan my fall wardrobe. it's the middle of summer yet i can't help thinking about sweaters and boots! i'm even more gung-ho since i'm going back to school (part time) for the first time in 2 years. i always get excited about buying a new bookbag and notebooks and pens and pencils (that excitement goes away once the actual studying starts...).

so i was super pumped to see this 'school house rock' spread in the august issue of Teen Vogue. I love rockabilly style editorials so this spread is a dream!

Summer is FINALLY here in Vancouver. My first day at the beach last week, I got a sunburn. How fantastic. Gotta remember more sunscreen next time! Usually I wear tons but after my first dip in the ocean I forgot to reapply...

Today I took a walk down main street, checked out some vintage shops and got some stuff at the drug store. Here's what I wore... sorry for the fuzzy pics!

Style Star: Liu Wen

sorry for the extreme lack of posts! i've gotta get on that... i've been super lazy and haven't taken pics of anything i've been wearing lately. but for todays post...:

liu wen. i love her style. she has embraced that rocker-chic look i adore. there is something about her that is completely classic (the camel trench, the pin straight hair) that somehow works perfectly with her combat boots and ripped jeans. she sticks with a 'uniform' of skinnies and blazers but it's always unique and different each time. i love the thrown together attitude!

#28: Read 100 Books

Because I am in grad school this summer and it has really been kicking my butt and seriously time consuming, I had given up one of my favorite past times, reading. But I could not take it anymore. I enjoy it. It relaxes me and helps me shut off my mind and fall asleep at night. So I read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I really enjoyed this book. I know others haven't, or thought it was slow, but I really liked it. And if I am not mistaken, a movie is out or coming out. I am really not sure which. I would be very interested in seeing that. Oh, another thing I love...it is part of a series. You know how I love those. I have already downloaded the next book to my Kindle. And I go out of town Friday for a week so I am sure I will read that and more while I am lounging at the pool getting a tan. Yes, some black people like to get a tan.
