Initially I meant to do a book review on just one book, however I had a change to read both of Nicole Richie's books so in the end I've decided to review them both. (See more after the jump)
The first book she's ever wrote was The Truth About Diamonds. It was released in 2 covers and it's a total Chick Lit. Perfect for those hours on the beach! Althought the book is about Chloe, it's Nicole who tells her story in first-person narrative. There are a lot of similiarities between Nicole and Chloe, they were both adopted by successful music industry people, they share a love for Balenciaga motorcycle bag, and both had problems with drugs. The book was published during the time that Nicole and Paris weren't speaking, so the people who've read the book right after it was published got a feeling that another character; Simone is a representation of Paris. However, Nicole in later interviews denied that this was a case. Chloe and Simone then become the spokegirls for a cosmetic company and do a reality commercial series about their friendship. There's so many twists in this story but it's still able to keep it's continuity. Overall I've really enjoyed this book. I was very surprised how well written it was. I'd recommend it for everyone. Oh and the catchphrase from this book? It's Oh my Versace! Loves it!
RATING: 5/5
Second book written by Nicole is Priceless. Main character, Charlotte has it all. She's popular, beautiful, and filthy rich. However, one day her whole world collapses when her father is arrested for financial fraud. All of their account has been frozen and she's basically nothing left but her clothes, and jewellery. Charlotte's mother died when she was 6, so the only person she can turn to is her former nanny, Millie. She travels to New Orleans, where she get's a job in a local restaurant and she even enjoys it! Everything would be good if it wasn't for the stalker that want her to pay for her father's crime.
This book is also very well written. It keeps you in suspense almost all the time. However I feel like the end was a little rushed to. Like Nicole was given a certain number of pages to write and in the end she had to shorten the ending. Apart from that, it is another great book to read on a beach, or during subway ride to work.
