Homemade Bleaching and Tan Removing Lotion Recipe #1

Ingredients:
1 medium-sized fresh cucumber.
1/2 teaspoon glycerin.
1/2 teaspoon rose water.
1 tablespoon lemon juice.

Preparation:
Grate the cucumber finely without removing its skin. Using a square piece of cheese cloth, extract the cucumber juice. Mix all the ingredients well.

Pat on the face and arms with a swab of cotton woo!. Leave on for 10-12 minutes.

Wash off with tepid water.

Excess solution can be stored for about 2 days in a glass bottle.

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon oatmeal.
Hot water.
Juice of half a lemon.

Preparation:
Mix the ingredients to make a soft paste that won't drip off your face.

Apply on face and arms. Leave to dry for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off well with tepid water.

Ingredients:
I ounce glycerin.
14 ounces rose water.
4 drams borax powder.

Preparation:
Mix the ingredients well.

Pat on face and arms. Leave to dry for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with tepid water.

Pour the remaining liquid into a glass bottle and store.

Movie Star Style: Ghost World

I was getting ready to do this Ghost World blog, and then the May 08 issue of Nylon shows up at my door with a feature on the movie. What a coincidence! Ghost World is one of my favourite movies. It's got Thora Birch as sarcastic and cynical Enid, Scarlett Johansson before she was famous, and Steve Bucsemi, awesome as always.

Enid: I'm taking a remedial high school art class for fuck-ups and retards.

Rebecca: This is so bad it's almost good.

Enid: This is so bad it's gone past good and back to bad again.

Enid: Gimme all your money, bitch!

Enid: It's not like I'm some modern punk, dickhead. It's an obvious, 1977 original punk rock look. I guess Johnny fuckface over there's too stupid to realize it.

I've been reading about Kira Plastinina everywhere.- she's being touted as the worlds youngest fashion designer; and at 15, it may be true. She is a huge deal in her native Russia, and 10 of her stores will be opening in the U.S. soon. It isn't often I wish I lived in the U.S. (or Russia...), but this is one of them! I need to get my hands on the pink outfit she's wearing in the second pic!

My Style

I got this awesome vintage Shelly Michaels dress from Value Village for about $10 last week and decided to play around with ways of wearing it...

Very spring, don't you think?

The vest on the left is from Garage, the shoes are from Urban Planet and the bag is from Le Chateau. The sweatervest on the right is from my schools costume closet (that's the best part about going to a theatre school... the costumes!) and the belt is from Urban Outfitters. The pink tank underneath the dress is from Bluenotes.

I go to alot of vintage stores and look at dresses, but I'll tell you... the best ones are always at the thrift store!
